Highway Bowser



Highway Bowser can be referred in generic terms in that it can mean a variety of tankers are used. Bowsers are normally associated with organisations that supply water in emergency situations when the main supply of water can not be accessed. In Scotland, bowsers are sometimes attributed to being moveable but sometimes not wheeled vessels that carry alkali metals or inert gases. These bowsers might have been utilized in the Atomic Energy Authority (now known as UKAEA) sites. In the UK, the word ‘highway’ is not commonly in use and it is only sometimes refer in a historic and legal sense. The words that are used instead are main road or motorway. Any use of the word highway is used in statistical terms such as the total length of the highway network.
