Gatwick Airport Oil & Lube Trailer
Problem
Gatwick Airport were carrying out hydraulic oil changes for air bridges on the air field, but were using oil drums and transfer pumps with no efficient containment protection. They reached out to Trailer Engineering as they were looking for a professional and efficient solution.
Solution
Following a discussion to assess requirements, Trailer Engineering designed a bespoke heavy duty trailer, that was designed to carry three bunded oil tanks, indenting to protect the environment from tank leaks. All three tanks were designed to self-fill and empty via L-port.
The two, 200 litre tanks were designed to carry two different types of new hydraulic oil. The other 400 litre tank would carry waste oil. Each tank had its own:
- Pump
- Hose reel
- Dispensing gun with a built in anti-drip nozzle, flow metre, and suction wand
- Overfill protection sensors that automatically switched off pumps
The tanks were mounted inside a fully enclosed trailer with a roller shutter door and the base of the floor was sealed to act as a drip tray to contain any oil drips.

A spill kit was also added to the exterior of the trailer to complete the total environmentally secure solution.
Result
Gatwick Airport is now operating an oil/lube trailer with peace of mind. The oil containment protects the environment and improves oil change efficiency.
