Fuel Tank Pressure Test Kit
£120.00 Inc. VAT
This pressure test kit is suitable for your routine fuel tank pressure testing regime. To keep your U.N. certified fuel storage tanks U.N. certification you are required to pressure test your storage tank every 30 months.
This kit will simply fit into the 2″ fill point and blank of the PRV using the supplied blanking plug. You will then be able to put pressure into the tank via the airline connector and see the air pressure inside the tank rise using the pressure clock. When pressure testing a tank it is required to be tested at 2psi, when the fuel tank reaches 2psi you then have to check all of the fitting’s and if applicable the seams of the tank to ensure there is no leaks on the tank. Once the pressure test is completed remove the pressure test kit and refit the PRV. For more information on how to pressure test a fuel storage tank / fuel bowser please see our walk through video by clicking here
Pressure Test Kit includes 1 x 1/4″ blanking plug, 1 x pressure test clock, 1 x ball valve and 1 x airline connector.
Description
How do you pressure test a fuel tank / fuel bowser with this Fuel tank pressure testing kit?
PRESSURE TESTING PROCEDURE
FOR 950L & 2140L UN BUNDED BOWSERS
1 . REMOVE 2” FILLER CAP FROM TANK & INSERT RUBBER END OF TEST KIT INTO
THE APERTURE WITH THE CLOCK GAUGE EITHER VERTICALLY OR TO THE TOP
RIGHT HAND SIDE
2 . TURN THE WING NUT CLOCKWISE & HAND TIGHTEN UNTIL YOU ARE SURE IT IS
SOLID WITHIN THE TUBE.
3 . ENSURE THE BALL VALVE ON THE TEST KIT IS TURNED OFF.
4 . CHECK THAT THE VENT VALVE IS CLOSED & THE SUCTION & RETURN
CONNECTIONS ON TOP OF THE TANK ARE BLANKED OFF.
5 . REMOVE THE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE & BLANK THE HOLE WITH THE ¼”BSP
PLUG PROVIDED IN THE KIT.
6 . CLOSE THE BOTTOM FRONT SUPPLY VALVE TO THE HAND PUMP.
7 . CONNECT A PCL FEMALE END OF AN AIR LINE ONTO THE MALE PROBE ON THE
TEST KIT.
8 . OPEN THE BALL VALVE ON THE TEST KIT & OBSERVE THE PRESSURE GOING
INTO THE TANK, WHEN THE PRESSURE REACHES JUST UNDER 2 PSI TURN
THE BALL VALVE OFF.
9 . REMOVE THE AIR LINE.
10 . USING A LONG HANDLED PAINT BRUSH APPLY A SOAPY WATER
SOLUTION AROUND THE VALVES TO CHECK FOR AIR BUBBLES FROM LEAKING
FITTINGS. (IN PLACES AWKWARD TO REACH USE AN EXTENDING MIRROR & A
TORCH TO VIEW).
11. AFTER A MAXIMUM OF 2 MINUTES RELEASE THE AIR FROM THE TANK VIA
THE VENT VALVE ON TOP.
NOTE: THE TANK HAS NO SEAMS, THE ONLY PLACES TO TEST ARE THE OUTLETS.
UNLESS THERE IS PHYSICAL EVIDENCE OF DAMAGE TO THE TANK ITSELF.
How often should you pressure test a fuel tank?
FIRST 30 MONTHS TEST Since Manufacture:
THIS TEST IS FOR LEAKPROOFNESS OF THE TANK & OPERATION OF ALL
ANCILLARY COMPONENTS CONNECTED TO THE TANK ALONG WITH AN
EXAMINATION OF THE OUTER BUND TANK, IT CAN CONSIST OF A PRESSURE
TEST, BUT IS IS NOT COMPULSORY AS LONG AS THE INNER TANK IS IN SOUND
CONDITION & DOES NOT LEAK. THIS CAN OBVIOUSLY BE VARIFIED BY ITS
ABILITY TO CONTAIN FUEL WITHOUT LEAKING, ALL OF THE BUNDED POLY INNER
TANKS ONLY HAVE FRONT BOTTOM OUTLET WHERE ANY POTENTIAL FOR LEAKS
IS THE VALVE, APART FROM PHYSICAL DAMAGE IT SHOULD BE QUITE SIMPLE TO
VERIFY. ALL FITTINGS FITTED IN THE TANK SHOULD OPERATE CORRECTLY & DO
NOT LEAK, THE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE SHOULD BE REMOVED & TESTED FOR
OPERATION, THIS CHECK SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT BY A NOMINATED PERSON
WHOM YOU CONSIDER TO BE COMPETENT. THE TESTS SHOULD BE RECORDED &
KEPT ON FILE, THE U.N. PLATE FITTED INSIDE THE REAR DOOR OF THE OUTER
TANK SHOULD BE STAMPED WITH THE TEST DATE.
SECOND TEST 60 MONTHS :
THIS TEST SHOULD CONSIST OF THE SAME AS FOR THE 30 MONTHS BUT MUST
BE A PRESSURE TEST & PHYSICALLY EXAMINE THE TANK. THE TANKS SHOULD
BE TESTED FOR LEAKPROOFNESS AT 2PSI THIS SHOULD BE DONE IN SITU IN THE
OUTER TANK AS IT IS RESTRAINED BY THE FRAMEWORK (IF REMOVED AND
TESTED WITHOUT RESTRAINT IT EXPANDS LIKE A BALLOON & WOULD
EVENTUALLY NOT FIT BACK INSIDE THE TANK) THE JOINTS IN THE TANK SHOULD
BE TESTED USING A SIMPERONIC SOLOUTION IN WATER ( FAIRY LIQUID IS
SUITABLE) BRUSHED AROUND THE FITTINGS & OBSERVED FOR BUBBLES
LEAKING OUT. AGAIN THIS TEST SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT BY A COMPETENT
PERSON, YOUR INSURERS HAVE COMPETENT PERSONS THAT CAN DO THE JOB
FOR YOU. THE U.N. PLATE MUST BE STAMPED WITH THE TEST DATE AND
RECORDS KEPT OF IT.
You Are Then Required To Pressure Test Your Fuel Tank / Fuel bowser
Every 30 Months After
