The Farming Equipment and Technology (FETF) Grant is a funding initiative designed to support agricultural producers in acquiring modern equipment and technology to enhance their farming operations. This grant aims to promote innovation, improve efficiency, and increase productivity within the agricultural sector.
As stated on the Government website, the FETF grant will allocate a total of £30 million to agricultural producers for enhancing productivity and slurry management, along with £16.7 million earmarked for animal health and welfare initiatives.

By providing financial assistance, the FETF Grant encourages farmers to invest in advanced machinery, precision farming tools, and sustainable technologies that can lead to better crop yields, reduced environmental impact, and improved overall farm management.
Every item is assigned a distinct score reflecting its effectiveness in meeting the program goals. In the event that there are more grant applications than available funding, those with the highest scores will be given preference. Stay informed about the rules and guidelines by visiting the Government's website, ensuring all of your circumstances allign with what is stated on the website.

How much money will I receive in the FETF 2025 Grant?
For every theme (improving productivity, managing slurry, and improving animal health and welfare), you can only submit one FETF grant application and each application must be for between £1,000 and £25,000. The grants should cover 40% or 50% towards the average cost or the actual cost you pay for the item.
Throughout the last three rounds of the FETF, farmers, growers, foresters, and various contractors in England have been awarded more than £107 million to invest in new equipment and technology.
When is the deadline?
The grant opened on the 29th May 2025 and will be open for applications until midday on 10th July 2025.
You must claim your payment by 31 March 2026.
The deadline is fast approaching, so ensure you have claimed any relevant payments before then.
Who is Eligible?
Eligible
- To be eligible for the FETF grant, you must be a farmer, horticulturalist, a forestry owner or contractor providing services to these groups in England.
- You must be registered with the Rural Payments service and given an SBI (Single Business Identifier).
Not Eligible
- Government departments, executive agencies and non-departmental public bodies are NOT eligible for the grant.
- You are also not eligible if you choose to leave farming through the Lump Sum Exit Scheme. (On the Gov website, it states that if you’re a farmer who has been paid a lump sum but continuing work as a contractor, you can apply for a FETF.)
- Importantly, various other livestock and poultry, such as goats, ducks, turkeys, geese, and game birds, do not qualify for financial support.
Items Available within the Grant
Improving animal health and welfare
The animal health and welfare grant is available to farmers who possess beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep, pigs, laying chickens or broiler chickens. Regardless of what animals you keep (that fall within these animal requirements), there will be an ideal animal health and welfare solution that this grant can assist with.
If you are looking for a bowser to assist with your animal hydration needs, one of our items that matches the requirements for the grant is a water bowser with an integrated trough (FETF278SH).
It can hold up to 2000l of water and 30 gallons in its trough, making it an ideal solution for your animal's needs. The 2000l towable bowser with large trough also has an automatic self-fill where when the float has dropped it will let more water into the trough.
On the Gov website, it outlines that the bowser must:
- Be a water bowser that can be towed
- Have a minimum tank capacity of 2000L
- Have a tank that is permanently fixed to the trailer
- Have a drinking trough which is integrated
- Fill the trough from the bowser automatically
A smaller version is also accepted: Water bowser with integrated trough (small) - FETF314SH.
For this, Trailer Engineering supplies a 1125-litre animal feeder bowser which is ideal for smaller applications.
The small water bowser with integrated trough must:
- Be a water bowser that can be towed
- Have a minimum tank capacity of 1100L
- Have a tank that is permanently fixed to the trailer
- Have a drinking trough which is integrated
- Fill the trough from the bowser automatically
Productivity
The productivity grant predominantly includes items that are suitable for forestry, horticulture, livestock, resource and energy management, and water and irrigation management. Some popular items here include:
- Air drill for establishing cover crops
- Liquid fertiliser applicator for seed drills/planters
- Tree shears
Managing Slurry
For farmers managing slurry, the items included are ideal for collection and storage, testing and application. Some popular items on this list include:
- Mobile slurry separator
- Flow rate monitoring of slurry
- Dribble bars

Will there be a 2026 FETF?
It is anticipated that there will be a 2026 FETF grant, although not a lot of information has been announced as of yet.
We will monitor any upcoming information from the GOV.UK website to ensure that those involved in farming, agriculture or any other related fields can stay up to date. Like in this post, we will mention whether the 2026 funding can be contributed towards Trailer Engineering agricultural and farming-related products.
